LVFAS Awarded Firehouse Subs Grant

Posted on December 19, 2018

The Long Valley First Aid Squad has been awarded a grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.

The Long Valley First Aid Squad is the sole Technical and Vehicle Rescue operations entity recognized in Washington Township, Morris County, New Jersey. In addition, our Technical Rescue services expand to mutual aid districts when they require our specialized Rescue Services unit for assistance.

The Long Valley First Aid Squad serves its community of more than 18,500 citizens of Washington Township, including hikers, bikers, plus hundreds of athletes and families who visit the area for recreational endeavors. We operate on an all-volunteer, 24/7 basis. With the ever-growing need for medical supplies, rise in medication costs, and budget constraints, it is imperative that we seek assistance for additional rescue supplies and equipment purchases.

The Long Valley First Aid Squad is grateful to have been awarded a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant. The funds, totaling $15,148.25, were used to purchase one portable high pressure HURST Jaws of Life S788E2 extrication tool and a CMC Arizona Vortex Multipod for our Ropes and Technical Rescue Unit. This equipment will allow us to operate as efficiently and safely as possible when engaged in a variety of rope rescue emergencies and motor vehicle entrapments.

Businesses such as Firehouse Subs set the bar high for organizations that give back to their local community. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) that was started in 2005 with the mission of impacting the lifesaving capabilities and the lives of local heroes and their communities. The program provides equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations. Since its inception, the non-profit organization has granted more than $37.7 million to hometown heroes in 47 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $603,000 in New Jersey.
